The founders of MICA, Gavin Miller and Stuart Cade, were partners at the award winning practice Rick Mather Architects having worked closely with Rick since 1995.

Under their leadership the office has grown steadily and is now at its largest and most successful of its long history. Rick Mather passed away in April 2013. Rick left a talented team who continue to work with the same rigour and success that he instilled.

Building upon the reputation of design quality established by the partners over 20 years, MICA is a new practice with a rich heritage. The team works across multiple sectors at a range of scales while maintaining the same attention to detail throughout. An analytical approach is applied to all projects, from strategic masterplans and landscape planning to individual buildings, interiors and even furniture. Through creative problem solving, engaging with stakeholders and the local community, MICA is able to solve complex problems and present solutions that appear simple in their elegance.

The practice’s specific approach has been developed over the last four years, with projects including the large-scale cultural mixed-use masterplan at Croydon; strategic London-wide masterplanning for TfL; complex heritage sites at Kings College London, Lincoln’s Inn, and Jesus College, Oxford; two landscape and public realm schemes in Lancaster; and a new London square at Centre Point.
