Fair Field Cultural Quarter shortlisted for Planning Awards 2018

MICA has been shortlisted for the Planning Awards 2018 for its work at Fairfield Halls, Croydon. The Planning Awards acknowledge excellence in both planning and placemaking through the recognition of outstanding professional planning work and excellence in planning-related activities, such as placemaking, urban design, economic development, housing, regeneration, legal advice and environmental consulting.

MICA’s restoration of Fairfield Halls and its work on the larger-scale Fair Field Cultural Quarter has been shortlisted in the Best Use of Heritage in Placemaking category. This category showcases how a project, plan or organisation has used a place or community’s heritage in a way that has improved, or is likely to improve, the physical or environmental quality of the place or the economic or social well-being of the community.

The Fair Field Cultural Quarter is the transformation of a major 8-hectare site in Croydon Town Centre through £1bn of development. The refurbishment of the iconic Fairfield Halls is at its centre, complemented by a re-planned public square at College Green, a new independent underground gallery, a purpose-built facility for Croydon College and 2,000 new homes delivered over 15 years.
