MICA highly commended at AJ100 Awards

MICA attended the AJ100 Awards at the Tower of London last night (13th June) where we were highly commended for our work with London-based pattern designers Eley Kishimoto.

Having worked with fashion company on several projects, including Centre Point and our bid for Olymipicopolis Cultural Quarter, the judges recognised the success of the collaboration by awarding MICA and Eley Kishimoto the only high commendation of the night.

The jury stated that “the collaboration has clearly awoken something both in the architect and the artist, both of whom are trying to push boundaries.”

“What has been conceived goes beyond the physical and the visible to a full sensory experience,” they continued.

The judges finished by stating that “although the bid for the Olympicopolis did not succeed, the collaboration clearly remains alive, the fruits of which will be exciting to see in the future.”

Last night’s entry into the AJ100 was MICA’s first time featuring in the UK-wide architectural table and represents a significant milestone for the practice. The AJ100 is an annually released table compiled by the Architects’ Journal which provides a list of the UK’s 100 biggest architecture practices.
