Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre fosters great results

Mouhssin Ismail was nominated for the TES Further Education (FE) Leader of the Year after helping to send 95 per cent of pupils at Newham Collegiate Sixth Form to Russell Group universities.

Enabling the most able students from the local area and surrounding boroughs to succeed in their A-Level exams was a primary aim for our team when developing designs to create the highest quality learning and teaching facilities.

Despite serving one of the poorest communities in the UK, the school in East Ham posts A-level results comparable to top grammar and private school.Mr Ismail left global law firm Norton Ros Fulbright in 2009 to become a teacher in his old neighbourhood of Newham.

The refurbishment restored the significant heritage features of the building while facilitating state of the art learning facilities. With a focus on maths, science and technology, the Old Technical College houses science laboratories and classrooms for 500 students.

The success of Newham Collegiate Sixth Form (NCS) in Barking Road, means it is on par with the best schools in the country.
