Two MICA projects shortlisted for the RIBA Regional South Awards 2018

MICA has two projects on the shortlist for the RIBA Regional Awards this year. Both West House, Stowe School and the New Library at The Queen’s College, Oxford have been shortlisted in the South region.

Completed 2017, the new library and archive building for The Queen’s College enhances the existing building and includes a new library, refurbishment and adjustments to the existing building. The 800m2 extension adds accommodation for archive space, historic collection, offices, reader spaces and a new Peet Library of Egyptology.

West House, completed at the end of 2017, is a new purpose-built two/three storey building that provides en-suite study bedrooms for 24 students, with living facilities, common rooms and garden and terraces, whilst complimenting the three adjacent brick houses designed by Fielding Dodd in 1935.

42 buildings were entered from the region, which covers Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and Oxfordshire and twelve have made it through to the next stage. All shortlisted buildings will now be assessed by a regional jury and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Mercedes-Benz World on Thursday 17 May.
