Two projects win the Civic Trust Awards 2024

Hay Castle and Cheng Yu Tung Building both win the Civic Trust Awards 2024, standing out from over 320 entries across the globe.

MICA team celebrated at the awards’ ceremony on Friday 22nd March at The Concorde Conference Centre, Altrincham.


Hay Castle, Hay-on-Wye, a medieval castle has undergone a major conservation-led renovation, emerging as a vibrant cultural hub for arts and education.

“A beautifully executed conservation-led renovation project which has not only made reconnections with the town but provided a world-class cultural hub for the arts and education.” The judges are impressed by the seamless integration of different architectural elements to house a range of functionalities.

Cheng Yu Tung Building, Jesus College Oxford, stands as a distinctive mixed-use landmark in the heart of the city, highly visible to the entire community and contributing to the vibrant urban fabric. Offering a hub for teaching, research, retail, healthcare, and student living within an outward-facing fourth quad.

Judges commented on Cheng Yu Tung: “This building stands not only as a functional and sustainable asset for the College but also as a dynamic and integrated contributor to the broader Oxford community.”
