Gray’s Inn on site – demolition complete

Construction is progressing on site at 19-21 High Holborn with demolition works complete and piling to the rear basement now under way.

The 1960’s hollow pot reinforced concrete [RC] frame has been hollowed out to install a new stairwell and lifts. A new steel frame extension will connect into the retained RC frame and Grade II listed No. 21 High Holborn, currently supported by an intricate system of temporary propping.

Due for completion in September 2019, the refurbishment of 19-21 High Holborn is an important project for The Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn. The proposals will reinforce the Inn’s presence on High Holborn by sensitively restoring and upgrading the original entrance gateway into the Inn and improving the adjacent 1960s structure. Once complete, the new building will provide 3400 sqm of premium office chamber space and retail.
