‘Mather to MICA’ lecture at the University of Oregon

MICA Director Gavin Miller will be giving a lecture on MICA’s work in architecture and urbanism at the University of Oregon today.

Gavin will be covering a variety of projects that date back to the practice’s inception as Rick Mather Architects to new masterplanning work under the umbrella of MICA. The lecture is being conducted in conjunction with MICA’s offer of a summer internship for a selected student of the University of Oregon.

With over 20 years of experience in architecture and urban design, often in highly challenging and sensitive settings, Gavin is a specialist in delivering successful solutions through clear strategic and innovative spatial strategies. Born and educated in Glasgow, Gavin has worked on masterplanning schemes in Belgium, France, Austria and Scotland and has lectured and taught widely on urban design.

Building upon a reputation for design quality established by Rick Mather Architects over 20 years, Gavin co-founded MICA in 2016. Under Gavin’s leadership the practice has developed an analytical, engaging approach over the last four years which has been applied to all projects, from strategic masterplans and landscape planning to individual buildings, interiors and even furniture.

Rick Mather Architects/ MICA have a long-standing relationship with the UO, hosting undergraduate students in paid summer internships since 2006. Several staff members are also UO alumni.
