MICA masterplanning for Bede's Senior School

Informed by our Living + Learning strategies, MICA have been appointed by St Bede’s Senior School to shape an ambitious masterplan to coincide with the schools 40th anniversary. The emerging proposals respond to Bede’s extensive land holdings and growing education needs across two major sites. Within the setting of the South Downs, the strategic plan aims to bring cohesion to 52 hectares of village, landscape, and school, and contribute to the highest standards of education using a landscape approach to development.

Situated in the bucolic village of Upper Dicker the school is home to the Legat School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. The masterplan aims to foster stronger relationships between the main house, ‘the Dicker’, and the surrounding landscape conditions, with linked gathering spaces, drawing on routes and the special architectural qualities within the school.

Growing out of the success of Bede’s Preparatory School in Eastbourne the Senior School was founded in 1978 and today the school educates approximately 750 pupils.
