MICA named Architect of the Year 2020

MICA is delighted to have been awarded both Refurbishment Architect of the Year and the Architect of the Year in the annual AYA Building Design Awards 2020.

Our team is made up of longstanding, dedicated staff and it is testament to their hard work and determination that both the breadth and quality of our work has been recognised by the judges, and our respected peers, in both of these prestigious awards.

The judges – who underlined the importance of restoring and repurposing existing buildings at a time of climate crisis – praised MICA’s entry for its high standard and variety of work. This included transforming and extending London’s famous Centre Point complex, restoring Croydon’s 1962 Fairfield Halls to its former glory and rescuing a crumbling 17th-century Hay Castle. The practice also led the most significant development at Lincoln’s Inn’s grade I-listed Great Hall and Library for 150 years, ranging from heritage-led conservation and restoration to bold contemporary additions to the oldest working library in London.

Gavin Miller said "We are delighted to win the Architect of the Year Gold and Refurbishment awards, and owe a huge thank you to our teams and our clients, for all the fantastic hard work, and for believing in us and giving us the opportunity in the first place. MICA is an exciting young company evolved from a rich legacy, and it’s great to get this endorsement, and from which we can further develop and progress."
