MICA present Fairfield Halls at Theatres Trust Conference 2019

MICA’s recent refurbishment of Fairfield Halls was featured at this years Theatres Trust Conference 2019 #CentreStage19.

Associate Director David Watson presented MICA’s transformational £42m project at the Fairfield Halls, Croydon. There was keen interest in how all of the existing spaces were stripped back and restored whilst being fully equipped to provide much more access, comfort, support and flexibility for a wider range of activity and appeal throughout. Building on the conference theme - artist and audience at the heart of theatres - he also described how the large new-build elements, allowing for 1700 new users, will act as a ‘beacon’ (Talawa Studio) and ‘shop-front for the arts’ (Glasshouse) opening the building up in every sense and placing the Halls at the centre of the new cultural quarter in Croydon’s Town Centre.
