White Lion House, Centre Point Shortlisted for NLA Award 2018

Over 150 projects across 15 categories have been shortlisted for the New London Awards 2018, recognising the very best new and proposed architecture, planning and development in the capital. The annual Awards seek projects of the highest design quality which make a positive contribution to their surroundings and life in the capital.

White Lion House is a mixed-use building containing 13 social and affordable rented homes, on the corner of St. Giles High Street and Denmark Street. The building was the key to unlocking the redevelopment of the Grade II listed Centre Point complex, located at the threshold of the new public square. Negotiating the constraints of the complex site, extending the exuberant modernism of Centre Point, facing towards the temperate Palladianism of St-Giles-in-the-Fields, it contributes a civic scale to the site providing density through interlocking units around a highly-efficient single-core, raised on a three-storey shop-front to a ground floor retail space.

Winners will be announced on 4 July at the NLA Annual Lunch at the Guildhall.
