Heresay

From “saying it here” to “Hearsay”, “Heresay” is our word for what people have been saying about us...

On the Directors

“Kings of context”

David Taylor, New London Quarterly

“The detailing both internally and externally, is elegant, restrained, and feels qualitatively consistent with the existing college.”

RIBA Awards Judges’ Comments, Keble College

On Centre Point

“MICA have a very strong team who complement each other extremely well in their skill sets and are passionate about their work. MICA are always one step ahead with their thinking, which makes the liaison with other consultants very efficient, particularly on a very complex project. MICA are a joy to work with!”

Kathrin Hersel, Property Director Almacantar

On White Lion House:

“it packs a lot into a super-tight site”

Herbert Wright, Blueprint Magazine

“This project makes first class use of an extremely difficult and constrained site. Everything about it seems to have been well considered and thoroughly investigated. This is a scheme which delivers in buckets – from its impact on the streetscape to the provision of social housing with accessibility. This building seems to have all the answers.”

Civic Trust Awards 2019 - Winner

“The architecture...excels in doing many things. White Lion House’s flats offer stunning transparency yet protect occupants’ privacy...and adds a calm, distinctive presence to one of London’s most fascinating locales.”

Herbert Wright, Blueprint Magazine

“White Lion House sets an excellent example for high quality domestic design in central London for the less economically secure.”

On Lincoln's Inn:

“Amazing”

Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II

“MICA have worked very hard to provide a fully designed suite of buildings for The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. These have been sympathetically designed to sit in a Conservation Area surrounded almost exclusively by historic listed buildings. Work to the Grade II* Listed Great Hall has sat alongside state of the art basement extensions and above ground works. The Architects are nearing the end of a very technically challenging Construction phase, and have provided excellent service throughout.”

Philip Ardley, Programme Director

On Chester Balmore:

“A practice fully committed to producing the best architecture possible; self motivated and offering exceptional value. MICA are a delight to work with.”

Ivan Christmas, Senior Development Manager London Borough of Camden

“Chester Balmore is proof that high quality sustainable homes can be built in complex inner city sites whilst being highly specific to context and historic settings”

Max Fordham, Civic Trust Awards 2015 Special Award for Sustainability - Winner

“What they’ve done with the place is just amazing. Before, the building was so run-down, grey and depressing to live in – now it’s a dream house. They’ve really thought through every aspect of the design.”

On The Queen's College Oxford, New Library:

“MICA listen to their clients and are able to come up with inspired solutions for difficult problems.”

Ms Amanda Saville, Librarian

“The New Library is one of my favourite workspaces across the University. The lighting,a mixture of natural lighting from the glass panels and artificial lighting, creates an atmosphere conducive to long periods of focused work.”

On Mansfield College:

“It is no exaggeration to say that this work has transformed the College. Throughout, MICA have sought to bring fresh, innovative design into a Grade 2* listed site, and have succeeded in doing so with complete sympathy and sensitivity to the original buildings of the College and they have always delivered within exacting time limits and tight financial constraints.”

Allan Dodd, Bursar Mansfield College

“D&B projects can sometimes prove challenging if the Contractor and Design team don’t pull together to obtain their objectives. Working with MICA on the Hands Building project was a good example of Contractor and Design team working well together to deliver high quality building to meet and even exceed the clients expectations. Right from the beginning, MICA’s commitment to working collaboratively, delivering quality design information on time and within budgetary constraints was excellent.”

On Keble College:

“They have already designed two award winning buildings for Keble of which we are very proud. Their proposal offers a 21st Century reinterpretation of the traditional Oxford Quad that meets or exceeds all elements of the brief.”

Roger Boden, Bursar Keble College

“The detailing both internally and externally, is elegant, restrained, and feels qualitatively consistent with the existing college.”

On Fair Field:

“We have really enjoyed working with MICA on the Fair Field scheme. The project is complex, involving a variety of physical interventions of different scales and a great deal of stakeholder engagement. MICA take a methodical, detailed approach which is completely appropriate for a scheme of this nature and inspires confidence in us a client, and in the stakeholders we are seeking to engage. The quality of their architectural work is excellent, as is their speed and consistency of response.”
