Legacy

MICA grew out of Rick Mather Architects, best known for its award-winning museum extensions such as the Dulwich Picture Gallery, The Wallace Collection, Ashmolean Museum, Towner Gallery and the National Maritime Museum as well transformational masterplans at the Southbank, Greenwich World Heritage Site and University of East Anglia Masterplan, as well as a number of academic buildings for Keble College, Stowe School, Liverpool John Moores University, and Lincoln School of Architecture, and a broad spectrum of projects from private residences to restaurants and urban design. Rick sadly died in 2013 and the work of the practice was continued by the staff in the new company MICA launched by partners Gavin Miller and Stuart Cade, under the name of MICA.

MICA is made up from the two surnames, Miller and Cade : MI-ller CA-de.

Having individual names but being part of a collective entity reflects the team approach of the new practice which gives room for individuals to grow and develop.

Phonetically it is [mahy-kuh] or it might be easier as [my- ka]
