Clive Booth Student Village and Woodland Quad shortlisted for the Brick Awards 2025
We're proud to share that two of MICA’s projects have been shortlisted for the Brick Awards 2025:
Clive Booth Student Village, Oxford Brookes University
Large Housing Development category
Set within mature woodland on Headington Hill, the residential student development strengthens the connection between living, learning, and landscape. The architecture features a rich brick palette with blends of dark, yellow, light, and multi-tonal bricks. These create depth, texture, and a dynamic play of colour that responds to light and changing seasons. The bricks were chosen not only for their aesthetic richness, but also for their ability to harmonise with the natural tones of the woodland setting.

Woodland Quad, Wellington College
Education category
Woodland Quad is a leading co-educational day and boarding school, designed with a contemporary architectural approach to create a building that is virtually ‘invisible’ within the historic campus. The choice of brick colour, tone and variation was in response to creating a very different type of character area for the school, but it was also informed by the location in which a heavily wooded landscape context required a recessive architectural sensibility. Brick detailing plays an important role in the design, by using bays to create pleasing proportions and groupings of brick used in long horizontal planes, or being turned vertically as stack bond elements. Large brick bladed bays capture inset windows and direct views towards the woodland beyond and shield visual impact to the historic setting.

Both projects reflect our commitment to thoughtful design, high quality detailing and the enduring qualities of brick — delivering high-performance, characterful architecture that sits harmoniously in its context.
