MICA continues partnership with University of Oregon offering ‘Urban Futures’ internship for 2019

MICA is teaming up with the University of Oregon’s ‘Urbanism Next’ programme to share and exchange knowledge through a summer internship scheme. We are looking for students who have a keen interest in urban futures and can bring their own interest, experience, and research to engage and collaborate with MICA in further works.

The internship is paid and will take place at the MICA London office for three months between June and September. The internship is open to fourth/fifth year undergraduates and second/third year graduates with a passion for urban design and masterplanning.

Rick Mather was an Oregon-born Londoner who studied architecture at the University of Oregon(UO) before moving to London to study urban design at the Architectural Association (AA). He went on to form his own practice, Rick Mather Architects, in 1973 and built up a successful medium-sized practice whose sensitive approach to heritage and difficult sites earned it a reputation that led to winning the People’s Vote for their work at the Ashmolean Museum in 2010. Sadly, Rick passed away in 2013 but his legacy continues with MICA, the new practice which partners Gavin Miller and Stuart Cade launched.

Rick Mather Architects/ MICA have a long-standing relationship with the UO, hosting undergraduate students in paid summer internships since 2006. Several staff members are UO alumni and this new internship offer begins a new chapter in that relationship.

Applicants should submit a covering letter, resume, two letters of reference from employers or professors, and a digital portfolio via Handshake.
