White Lion House shortlisted for British Homes Awards 2018

White Lion House, the new affordable housing block at Centre Point, has been shortlisted for the Sunday Times British Homes Awards 2018 in the ‘Small Development of the year’ category alongside residential projects by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, Haptic Architects and others.

The ‘Small Development of the Year’ category highlights smaller residential developments that demonstrate exceptional sensitivity to context and clever solutions for design and construction. White Lion House delivers density and quality living spaces in the most complex of settings. The triangular form of the building is produced by the historic street layout which has resulted in a complicated ownership arrangement around the site. The building negotiates a number of civic functions, acting as both a gateway to the new St Giles Square and defining a new public space to the front. The block also has a highly efficient single-core arrangement with interlocking units planned to provide remarkable urban homes on a constrained city site.

The Sunday Times British Homes Awards celebrates exceptional design in all things home. It is the only honours that recognises every aspect of housebuilding — from one-off houses to major developments, interiors to landscaping, individual extensions to placemaking on a grand scale.
