MICA submit planning for Geoffrey Arthur Building at Pembroke College

MICA Architects on behalf of Pembroke College have submitted a planning application for the development of the Geoffrey Arthur Building in Oxford.

This new development carefully adjusts the existing Maguire and Murray complex with two new building elements one facing to the south and one facing the river Thames. The proposal provides new graduate accommodation, accessibility improvements to the existing complex, and public realm works to open up views and routes to the river.

Within the challenging conditions of the site and existing buildings, MICA, Qoda and eHRW are working to detail innovative sustainable designs to ensure energy reductions for the College, whilst also providing comfortable new accommodation embedded within the existing Pembroke College and Neighbourhood community and a sympathetic landscaped setting.

The team have worked closely with the College and its neighbours to develop designs, as well as engaging with associated stakeholders including Oxford City Council and Oxford Preservation Trust. The planning application is due to be presented to the Planning committee end of 2019.
