Turl Street Bike Store

Turl Street Bike Store

As part of the wider masterplan for Jesus College stared in 2016, MICA identified the existing bicycle storage site on Turl Street as an appropriate location for re-organisation to make better use of the existing space, increasing storage capacity to meet the Colleges growing needs.

The proposal provides 160+ storage spaces and re-developed the existing Principals garage, built in the mid 1970’s. The site is bound by the Grade II listed medieval wall and the Grade I listed College Chapel, and home to a prominent horse chestnut tree, a prominent feature in Turl Street and Oxford City Centre.

The design employs a series of bespoke ‘C’ framed steel roof structures to accommodate the gas assisted, double rack bike storage system; providing a uniform and functional upgrade to the current ‘ad-hoc’ arrangement.
